Special Primary Late Contribution 48 Hour Reporting Starts January 1st, 2024 | State House Districts 13 & 25
Due to the special elections for State Representative Districts 13 & 25, additional reporting requirements may be required if expenditures are made to support or oppose one of the candidates on the ballot.
The Special Primary will be held January 30, 2024. For reference, I’ve listed the campaign finance immediate disclosure reporting deadlines for committees participating in the January 30th Special Election.

Defining Late Contributions

The Special Primary will be held January 30, 2024. Here are the campaign finance immediate disclosure reporting deadlines for those committees participating in the January 30th special election:
Late Contribution 48-hour reports
PAC’s: January 1st, 2024 – January 27th, 2024
Late contribution reports for PAC’s will overlap for the Special Primary and the Special General elections. However, a late contribution during this timeframe only needs to be reported once.

Definition of “Late Contributions”
For PAC’s
A committee other than a Candidate Committee (PAC or Ballot Question Committee) a late contribution is received when two conditions are met:
The committee receives a single or cumulative contribution of $2,500 or more received from the same person between the day after the books are closed for the last campaign statement required and the 3rd day before the date of an election
The committee has made an expenditure to support or oppose a candidate or a question on a ballot during the same late contribution report period described above

For Candidate Committees
A contribution is defined as late in the following situations:
Any single or cumulative contribution of $500.00 or more received from the same person between the day after books are closed for the last campaign statement required and the 3rd day before the date of the committee/candidate election.
All types of contributions that meet the definition must be reported: Money, loans, in-kind contributions of goods and/or services and contributions from candidates to themselves.

PAC Report Filing Dates
PAC report filing due dates for the Special Elections remain the same:
The 2024 Annual is due January 31st, 2024 (reporting period October 21st, 2023 – December 31st, 2023)
April 25th, 2024 (reporting period January 1st, 2024 – April 20th, 2024)
Note: The above refers only to reports due through April, 2024. More to come on Late Contribution Reports as we approach the April 16, 2024 Special General Election!
Candidate Committee Filing Dates
For those participating in the Special Primary (Districts 13 & 25), January Pre & Post reports will be due:
Pre-primary campaign statements are due January 19th, 2024
Note: Report period starts depending on the close date of your last filing (most likely 01/01/24 if you filed an Annual report), close of books is January 14th, 2024. For details click this link
Post-Election Primary statements are due February 29, 2024
Note: Report period is January 15th, 2024– February 19th, 2024
Annual campaign statements are due January 31st, 2024 for most candidate committees
Note: Report period starts depending on when you last filed; most will be October 21st, 2023, with the close of books being December 31st, 2023, unless you filed a Statement of Organization after 01/01/24).
